Calculate GPA with honors and AP course weights

What is a Weighted GPA?

A weighted GPA takes into account the difficulty of your courses. While a standard GPA uses a 4.0 scale, weighted GPAs typically use a 5.0 scale to give extra credit for more challenging classes.

How Weighted GPA Works

  • Regular: A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0
  • Honors: A = 4.5, B = 3.5, C = 2.5
  • AP/IB: A = 5.0, B = 4.0, C = 3.0

This system rewards students who challenge themselves with advanced coursework. A weighted GPA above 4.0 indicates that a student is excelling in difficult classes.
